Charlie’s Safety Showcase – Open Daily!

Every day, Charlie’s House is one step closer to building our Safety Demonstration Home.  As we continue to raise the funds needed to build our facility, we have the opportunity to share a preview of what this eventual, one-of-a-kind facility will provide to parents and caregivers.

In an effort to achieve our mission of preventing accidents to children in and around the home, James Engle Custom Homes has allowed Charlie’s House to safety-proof one of their model homes that is open to the public daily.  The model, located in the Bluestem Community in Overland Park, Kansas, is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 12 noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays.

Charlie’s Safety Showcase is located at 11409 W. 153rd Street, Overland Park, Kansas.

Some of the featured areas within the home include:

Living Room:   fireplace, staircase, furniture and televisions, tripping and electrical hazards

Kitchen:  stove and oven, burn prevention, cabinet locking devices, choking hazards

Bathrooms:  door and toilet locks, medicine cabinets and toiletries, bathtub, water temperature

Nursery:  crib standards and safe sleep practices, window blinds, changing table

Garage:  tools, cleaning and gardening products, vehicle safety, gasoline storage
