By sharing this crucial tool with the families they serve, our Champions extend the reach of Charlie’s House far beyond our physical location, ensuring safety education is accessible to all, regardless of location, income, or circumstance. The Blue Springs Parents as Teachers (PAT) program is a free, voluntary early childhood education and family support initiative that serves families from pregnancy through kindergarten entry. It is designed to empower parents as their child’s first and most important teacher by offering personalized home visits from certified Parent Educators, developmental screenings to monitor growth and identify potential delays, engaging group connections that foster community and learning, and referrals to local resources and services. Whether you're a first-time parent or have multiple children, PAT provides compassionate, expert support tailored to each family's unique needs, helping children grow, learn, and thrive.

Parents as Teachers is an early learning program for ALL families with children prenatal through five years of age. Our vision is that all children will learn, grow, and develop to realize their full potential. As a parent, you are your child’s first and most influential teacher. In the beginning years, children learn more and at a faster pace than at any other time in their lives. The way a child learns from birth can have an enormous impact on later development and success in school. Parents as Teachers is here to support you in your role as a parent. Parents As Teachers USD 231
Parents As Teachers USD 231 is an early learning program for parents with children ages birth to 5 years of age. Our mission is to promote optimal early development, learning, and health of children by supporting and engaging their parents and caregivers. We offer research-based curricula and activities to advance parent knowledge of early childhood development and encourage best parenting practices while emphasizing the value of family culture and traditions. By supporting parents and caregivers, PAT 231 empowers families to raise children to be healthy, safe, and to reach optimal development during the crucial early years of life.

American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences
The American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences, founded in 1909, is the only professional association dedicated to Family and Consumer Sciences students and professionals who represent multiple practice settings and content areas. For 114 years, AAFCS has focused its mission on providing leadership and support for professionals whose work assists individuals, families, and communities in making more informed decisions about their well-being, relationships, and resources to achieve optimal quality of life. Through research, experiential education, and technology, our members help people develop the essential knowledge and skills to lead better lives, be work and career ready, build strong families, and make meaningful contributions to our communities.

Easterseals Midwest Home Visiting
Easterseals Midwest’s Home Visiting program provides free, in-home support to families prenatal to 19 years, with and without disabilities, offering parenting guidance, developmental screenings, and activities to promote healthy child development. Families receive regular visits from trained parent educators, along with helpful resources like books, diapers, developmentally appropriate toys, and access to local playgroups and events. These services are designed to strengthen families, reduce stress, and help parents better understand and support their child’s growth.

Promise 1000 - Home Visiting Collective
Promise 1000 - Home Visiting Collective connects families to early childhood home visiting programs that are specially trained to provide in-home parenting support. These services are for parents who are expecting a baby or caregivers who have a young baby or child under the age of 5 years old. Promise 1000 is a collective impact initiative that supports home visiting programs and strives to improve outcomes for children and families. Promise 1000 is an initiative of the Division of Child Adversity & Resilience at Children's Mercy Kansas City and Nurture KC with supportive funding from Missouri Children's Trust Fund, Hall Family Foundation, Jackson County Community Children's Services Fund, and local philanthropic Funds & Trusts.

Head Start/ECEAP
The Lower Columbia College Head Start, Early Head Start (EHS), and Early Childhood Education Assistant Program (ECEAP) provide quality early childhood education experiences. Services are available to children and families who meet eligibility requirements. Head Start and ECEAP are federally and state-funded free school-based preschool programs that serve income-eligible children ages 3-5 years. Local models consist of: Part-Day (3 1/2 hours a day, AM or PM session) - September-June School Day (6-hour days, 8AM-2PM) - September-June Working Day - For families receiving WCCC (Working Connections Child Care) subsidy approval (10-hour days, 7:30AM-5:30PM all year long) (go to washingtonconnection.org to apply). Early Head Start (EHS) is a federally funded free program that serves pregnant women, infants, and toddlers through three (3) years old. It promotes healthy pre-natal care, healthy attachments, and development for children from the earliest stages. The programs offered are: Early Head Start Home-Based: Helping families all year long. Home visits in your home every week. Fun group activities in the community twice a month. This is for families, pregnancy through 3 years old. Early Head Start Teen Parent Pathway: Assist young parents getting their high school diploma or GED while caring for their babies and toddlers (infant-3 years old) at our center. Follows parent's schedule. WCCC (Working Connections Child Care) subsidy eligibility required (go to washingtonconnection.org to apply).

Start at Zero
Start at Zero partners with parents and caregivers to promote healthy early childhood development for children prenatal to age 5 in Kansas City. We are proud to be a Parents as Teachers® Blue Ribbon Affiliate. SAZ’s hallmark program, Home Visiting, brings the Parents as Teachers curriculum the family’s home or a community space via the Family and Community Support Workers (previously known as Parent Educators). SAZ recently opened their social enterprise, the Start at Zero play café – a space for children and families to learn, be celebrated, and be well. Other programming includes developmental screenings, Group Connections (community playgroups and interactive learning experiences featuring the Kaleidoscope Play & Learn® model), Parent Café (community parent conversation series), and childcare provider coaching.

Catholic Charities of Kansas City - St. Joseph
Catholic Charities of Kansas City - St. Joseph's children and families department serves families in 26 counties in Northwest Missouri. Our Mom's Empowerment program serves moms below 185% of the federal poverty level in 26 counties with monthly case management, parenting education, and goal setting sessions. We provide financial and material assistance (diapers, wipes, toys, etc.) for pregnancy and through baby's first year of life. Our Social Butterflies program is also a case management and parenting education program serving Jackson county parents with children ages 0-6. We focus on socio-emotional health, developmental assessments, and positive parenting modelling. Our third service is our Adoption Agency which supports adoptive parents and birthmothers with high-touch support systems through the process of adoption.
