Join us as we celebrate the 5-Year Anniversary of the Charlie's House Safety Demonstration Home and look toward the future of child injury prevention.
About the CelebrationOn October 13, Charlie's House will celebrate an incredible milestone—the 5-Year Anniversary of the Charlie's House Safety Demonstration Home. This special event is more than an anniversary. It is an opportunity to celebrate the people, partners, volunteers, and donors who helped transform a family's tragedy into a nationally recognized resource that is helping protect children from preventable injuries. Together, we'll reflect on our journey, celebrate the impact we've made, and share our vision for expanding child safety education for generations to come. Our StoryTwenty years ago, Charlie's House began with a simple mission: To prevent accidents and injuries to children in and around the home. Inspired by the memory of Charlie Horn, the organization has spent two decades educating families, advocating for safer homes, and creating innovative ways to reach parents and caregivers. After more than fifteen years of planning, fundraising, and collaboration, the Charlie's House Safety Demonstration Home officially opened its doors in 2021. Today, it continues to educate thousands of families, healthcare professionals, educators, and community organizations every year. The Safety Demonstration HomeThe Charlie's House Safety Demonstration Home offers families a one-of-a-kind, interactive experience that teaches how to identify and prevent hazards throughout the home. Each room provides practical, real-world examples of common dangers and simple solutions that can prevent life-changing injuries. Visitors leave with more than information—they leave with confidence and actionable steps to make their own homes safer. Bringing Safety HomeNot every family can visit Kansas City. That's why Charlie's House partnered with Amazon to create the Virtual Safety Experience (VSE). The VSE is a free interactive app that allows parents, caregivers, educators, and healthcare providers to explore room-by-room safety guidance from anywhere. Available on iOS and Android, the Virtual Safety Experience extends Charlie's House's mission beyond its walls and into homes across the country.
